Robert Richmond
Robert Lee Richmond passed away on Jan. 19th 2022. He was born on Dec. 28th 1930 to the late Clifford and Avila Richmond of Port Huron, MI. After graduating from Port Huron High School in 1948 he enlisted in the US Airforce Reserve in 1951 and then attended Port Huron Junior College after concluding his military service. In 1954 he married Margot Watson and attended the University of Michigan before transferring to Ohio Northern University and graduating with an Electrical Engineering degree in 1959.
After college he was hired by General Electric first working in New York and then in 1960 he was transferred to California to work on the Lockeed F104 Starfighter. In 1964 he returned to Port Huron with his wife Margot and their four children and was President and General Manager of Huron Pipe and Supply for 20 years. After his divorce in 1984 he worked for MRM Inc. and Kober Sales as a sales agent until his retirement in 1992. Outside work he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, boating in his antique Chris Craft (The Sub), ham radio (W8MNQ The Second) and his lifelong interest in collecting model trains.
He is survived by his brother Jim Richmond, his children Karen Douville (Gary), Rob Richmond, Dave Richmond (Chris), and Jon Douglas Richmond; his grandchildren Christopher Richmond (Alyssa), Jonathan Richmond (Kaitlyn), Alexandra Finley (Craig) and Kathryn Richmond; his great grandchildren Madelyn and Emma Richmond; his lifelong boating buddy Chuck Thomas and his very close friend and dance partner for over 30 years Eileen Suber. He was preceded in death by his sister Betty Andrews (Bob).
A graveside service for the immediate family was held at Lakeside Cemetery on Friday Jan 21 and a celebration of life for extended family and friends will be held at a later date.
