Stanley Sterling Thompson, 89, of Smiths Creek, died Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
He was born April 28, 1932 in Yale to the late Stanley J. and Orpha Thompson.
Stanley served with the United States Army Rangers, retiring after 24 years of service. He then was employed as a foreman with the City of Port Huron for many years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and going to the shooting range. He loved going to estate and garage sales and was an avid reader.
He is survived by five children, Bonnie (Charles) Cook, Nadine (Jim) Scahill, Deanna Mueller, Danielle Thompson and Darrell Thompson; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Maynard Thompson; sister, Marcia Burgess; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Shelly Sloan. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bonnie and Dale Thompson; and his dog, Princess.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Monday, January 24, 2022 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Phil Whetstone will officiate.
Inurnment will be in the Allied Veterans Cemetery Columbarium, Port Huron. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
