Joseph T Baunoch

July 20th, 1928 to January 21st, 2022
Joseph Tony Baunoch, 93, of Fort Gratiot, died Friday, January 21, 2022. He was born July 20, 1928 in Croswell to Joseph and Margaret Baunoch. He married Jeanie May Holmes on October 25, 1947 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on January 6, 2015 after 67 years of marriage. Joe loved his family and worked hard to provide for their needs. As a young husband and father, he built the family’s first home on the south side of Port Huron, where they lived until the tornado of May 1953 lifted it from its foundation with his young family inside. Miraculously, they survived even though the home was moved intact well off the foundation. Joe was a master sausage maker, excellent automatic transmission specialist, and test car driver for Ford Motor Company at their Proving Grounds in Romeo, Michigan. As an entrepreneur, Joe established and owned Baunoch Trucking Company for more than 40 years, from which he retired. Joe enjoyed fishing, golfing and was an excellent chef. He was also involved in community activities. He was a member of the Burtchville Township Volunteer Fire Department, achieving the rank of Captain. He also helped with Little League and Hockey. Over the years he coordinated and cooked many of the finest roast beef dinners ever held at The Salvation Army Port Huron Citadel. He is survived by five children, The Reverend Dr. Joseph R. (Betty) Baunoch; Patricia (Dr. Robert) Baunoch-Ulrich, Mary Ann (Michael) Richard, Gregory (Melissa) Baunoch and Janice Baunoch; twelve grandchildren, Jennifer Baunoch, Dr. Joseph R. (Dina) Baunoch Jr., Beth Ann Baunoch, Dr. Evan Ulrich, Allison Ulrich, Captain Nathan (Captain Corrin) Perry, Bradley (Megan) Perry, Iain Baunoch, Alaina Baunoch, Thomas Wakeham, Tony (Sarah) Wakeham, and Janel (Joshua) Presnell; 17 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Baunoch; a sister, Shirley Parker; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2022 in the Marysville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022 in the Marysville Funeral Home. The Reverend Dr. Joseph Baunoch and Captain Nathan Perry will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg and Joe Baunoch, Evan Ulrich, Nathan and Bradley Perry, Joshua Presnell, Trey Graham and John Baunoch. Memorial contributions may be made to the family who plan to purchase a memorial bench to be placed near Joe’s favorite fishing spot along the St Clair River. It will include: Joe, Bob and John Baunoch and Bob McMorran. To send condolences, visit
