Lynn Christine Houck, 70, of Marysville, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 22, 2022.
She was born March 23, 1951 in Detroit to the late Louis and Shirley Valesano. She married David G. Houck on August 17, 1973 at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in St. Clair Shores. She fondly recalled how bored she was on their first date sitting through Gone with the Wind, but knew there was something special about him-and “Houcker” proved to be the most loving and dedicated husband for their 48 years together.
Lynn had fond memories of her time at Regina High School, where she formed many lifelong friendships. Always loving to connect with and care for others, she earned her LPN degree from Detroit Practical Nursing Center. She worked as a nurse at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mercy Hospital in Port Huron, and finally a private practice in Marysville prior to her retirement. Throughout her life, she showed an incredible gift of lifting the spirits of everyone she met.
Lynn was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, where she spearheaded the Christmas Giving Tree collection for the less fortunate for many years.
She is survived by her husband, David; two children, Christopher Houck, and Kellilyn (Stephen) Kennedy; three grandchildren, Anna, Thomas and Sarah Kennedy; two brothers, Mark and James Valesano. She was preceded in death by a brother, Keith Valesano.
Lynn lived and loved with all her heart and took tremendous pride in her friends and family. She supported her children in everything they did and taught them so many important life lessons, including the importance of caring for others and not to sweat the small stuff. She had a very special relationship with her grandchildren, who are blessed more than they’ll ever know to have wonderful memories of their “CooCoo.”
