Obituary

Jean Maxine Hastings, 98, of Port Huron, died Saturday, January 29, 2022.

She was born October 26, 1923 in Speaker Township, Sanilac County, to the late John and Weltha Newlove. She married Harvey Hastings on November 1, 1945 in Port Huron. He died February 21, 1982.

Jean enjoyed crocheting and gardening.

She is survived by four children, David (Jo) Hastings of Fort Gratiot, Linda Purdy (Arnold Ostrander) of Clyde, Nancy (Dennis) White of Port Huron Township and Patricia Belair of Port Huron; eight grandchildren, David Hastings of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jonathan Hastings of Port Huron, Deborah (David) Stover of Port Huron, Don (Diana) Purdy Jr. of Clyde, Joseph (Sheri) White of Seattle, Washington, Jeffery (Becky) White of Nashville, Tennessee, Stephen Belair of Indianapolis, Indiana and Alison (Aaron) Geister of Flushing; ten great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; sister-in-law, Ruth Newlove; several nieces and nephews, including special niece, Debbie Gordon. She was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, David Belair and Don Purdy Sr.; brother, Max Newlove; and two sisters, Leona (Pete) Quinlan and Marie (Jack) Beadle.

Private family services have already taken place in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Celebrant Laurie Wilson officiated.

Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot Township. Pallbearers were Joe White, Jeff White, Don Purdy Jr., Debbie Stover, David Hastings and Jonathan Hastings.
