Dan W Hoetger

Dan Ward Hoetger, 85, of Smiths Creek, died Saturday, February 12, 2022.

He was born October 16, 1936 in Port Huron to the late Winston Teeple and Marion Doan. He married Ila Kaercher on July 26, 1958 in Port Huron.

Dan retired from Detroit Edison in 1999 after 36 years of service. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir with his wife. Dan loved traveling and had visited many unique destinations around the world. The most important thing to him was his family.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ila; daughters, Diane Catlett and Marsha Hoetger-Winans (Craig Winans); granddaughter, Porschelle (Daniel) Haynes; great grandchildren, Kylee and Olivia Haynes; sisters, Joyce Hyde and Barbara (Ron) Malfitano; brother-in-law, David Lloyd; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine Borkowski; and sisters, Lynn Lloyd and Donna (Chuck) Tallmadge.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Reverend Drew Hart of First United Methodist Church will officiate. At the family’s request, masks will be required.

Burial will be in Croswell Cemetery, Croswell.
