Larry R Somes

Larry Robert Somes, 73, of Port Huron, died Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

He was born February 7, 1949 in Detroit to the late Robert and Shirley Somes. He married Rosalie Porter on November 11, 1967 in Mount Clemens.

Larry was a truck driver for many years until medical issues prevented him from doing the job he loved. He lived a long and full life with many family members and friends. He enjoyed tinkering on cars, working in the garage on different projects, spending time at his property up north and hosting many family camping and tubing events. He loved playing pool and Euchre, camping and coin collecting. He was a fan of Star Trek, classic cars and the History Channel.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rosalie; daughter, Christine (Kelly) Somes; son-in-law, Mick Lesko; granddaughters, Mikayla and Amber Lesko; siblings, Sandy MacAuley, Sharon (Ken) McKee, Ricky (Debbie) Somes, Robin (Gary) Huvaere, Dave Somes, Jimmy (Cheryl) Somes, Johnny (Monica) Somes and Ken (Carrie) Somes; Lynnie Porter, who was like a daughter to him; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Annette; brother-in-law, George MacAuley; and sister-in-law, Bess Somes.

A memorial gathering will be announced this summer.
