Edna A Foss
Edna Arleen Foss, 94, of Port Huron Township, died Wednesday, May 11, 2022.
She was born June 8, 1927 in Tyre, Michigan to the late Alfred and Ella Bartley. She married Robert H. “Bob” Foss on August 28, 1954 in Deckerville Methodist Church. He died December 27, 2014 after 60 years of marriage.
Edna attended Deckerville High School and graduated in 1944. After working for the telephone company and the post office, she attended Albion College and received a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1950. She obtained her teaching certificate and taught school in Detroit and New Baltimore before accepting a position at Roosevelt School in Port Huron, Michigan.
She enjoyed sewing and quilting. For many years she and Bob had a small upholstery business as a hobby. This love of sewing eventually led her to accept a position with Sears to teach customers how to use their new sewing machines, a job she enjoyed immensely.
Entertaining, gardening, quilting and camping were her favorite retirement activities. She and Bob wintered in Lakeland, Florida for 20 years and enjoyed watching the Tigers in spring training as well as participating in the other social events sponsored by the park and church.
Edna was a member of Port Huron First United Methodist Church, The United Methodist Women and Study Club. She was a former member of the Sanctuary Choir at First United Methodist Church and that is where she met Bob.
She is survived by three children, Catherine (Stephen) Grattan, Elizabeth (Robert) Hart and Ronald Foss; four grandsons, David (Janal) Grattan, Paul (Rachel) Grattan, Adam (Ashley) Hart and Brian Hart; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Kenneth (Marian) Bartley and Norma (Dallas) MacDonald; and nephews, Gary, David and Jeffery MacDonald.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022 in First United Methodist Church, Port Huron with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Drew Hart will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fort Gratiot Township.
