Obituary

Donald Eugene Dickinson, 93, of Fort Gratiot, died Thursday, May 12, 2022.

He was born April 6, 1929 in Port Huron to the late William and Mae Dickinson. He married Betty L. Henry on December 18, 1952 in Port Huron. She died June 7, 2016.

Donald was a life-long resident of Port Huron, graduating from Port Huron High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1952. Don was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 27 years until his retirement in June 1989. He was a longtime member of Hillside Wesleyan Church and was active in the JOY Club and Dinner on the Run. In retirement, he enjoyed camping and kept busy helping at the Reynolds Berry Farm and Apple Barn in North Branch.

He is survived by his son, Robert (Laura) Dickinson; daughter, Debra (Dale) Reynolds; grandchildren, Annette (John) Switzer, Amie (Graham) Sumpter, Becky Reynolds (fiancé Bob Lockery), Chris (Janice) Reynolds, Lynn Reynolds (Jesse Friske), Joanie (Michael) Recker and Jessica Nixon; great grandchildren, Alana, Joslin, Eugene, and Axel Reynolds, Rory, Colin and Sean Switzer, Grayson Sumpter and Ainsley Recker; brother, James (JoAnn) Dickinson; sister, Carolyn Hamilton; sisters-in-law, Kaye Dickinson and Helen Johnson; and loving companion, Sharon Remington. He was preceded in death by his brothers, LeRoy Dickinson, Harold (Rosemary) Dickinson, Russel Dickinson, Robert Dickinson and Clarence “Butch” Dickinson; sisters, Helen (Jim) Carpa and Dorothy (James) Collins; and brother-in-law, Francis Hamilton.

Memorial visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022 in Hillside Wesleyan Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Nate Neihof will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

Inurnment will be in the Allied Veterans Cemetery Columbarium, Port Huron.
