Duane L Fowler
Duane Lee Fowler, 91, of Fort Gratiot, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday June 2, 2022.
He was born February 9, 1931 in Port Huron and married Shirley McFarlane on October 24, 1953. Shirley preceded him in death on September 30, 2011.
Duane served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and then worked for Mueller Brass for many years until his retirement. Duane loved gathering with family and friends and playing games, whether it was his outdoor favorites of bocce ball and croquet, or indoor board games and cards. He also enjoyed camping and bowling, which he did until he was 90.
He is survived by his son, Ken (Cindy) Fowler; daughters, Cindi Nalepa and Connie (Rod) Weston, grandchildren, Amy (Reji) McBride, Tammy (Jeremy) Bullock, Jessica (Michael) Jones, Candice (Masaki) Sakano, Kenny Fowler, Tiffany Weston, Michael (Kellie) Weston, Jason (Emily) Nalepa, Justin (Courtney) Nalepa; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild and another on the way; a sister, Bonnie White; two brothers, Daniel (Sandra) Thayer and Gerald Thayer; sister-in-law, Sally Stevens; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Shirley; his parents, Rhea and Henry “Slim” Thayer; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, including Linda Thayer.
Private graveside services will be held in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron at a later date.
Memorials can be made in Duane’s name to McLaren Hospice, who were such a blessing to Duane and his family during this difficult time.
