Rachel Aleta Stone, 103, of Ruby, died Friday, December 30, 2011.
She was born December 8, 1908 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska to the late Jessie and Almira Baldwin.
Rachel was one of the “Rosie the Riveters” during WWII. She was then employed with Chrysler Corporation for 23 years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she deeply enjoyed playing the organ for our Lord and the congregation, as well as being involved with Sunday school and the women’s league church bazaars. She had a zest for life which showed in her strong will, independence, sense of humor and inability to back up her car in a straight line. Rachel’s heart was as great as our world and beyond. She was very crafty, especially enjoying ceramics and making doorstop dolls. She was always baking her famous cherry cream pies for someone.
She is survived by one son, Larry (Carla) Stones of Ruby; son-in-law, Robert Rieck; five grandchildren, Allyson (Tom) Harman, Deana (David) Pirt, L. Dale Stones, David (Gina) Rieck and Stacey Rieck; six great grandchildren, Matthew (Telishia) Harman, Jeremy (Cheryl) Harman, Shayna Harman, Joshua & Rachel Pirt and L. Devon (Tiffany) Stones; seven great great grandchildren, Alexander, EmaLee, Wyatt, Carter, Riley, Isabelle and Karly; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Clayr and Lois Stones; daughter, Joyce Ellen Rieck; and 12 brothers and sisters.
