David A Doan
David Allen Doan, 74, of Florida, formerly of Port Huron, Michigan, went home to Jesus on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. He peacefully passed away after a brief illness.
He was born on February 28, 1947 in Port Huron to William and Frances (Wheeler) Doan.
After David graduated from Port Huron High School in 1965, he put in an application to work for DTE Energy. He was soon drafted into the U.S. Army, where he proudly served for two years. He returned to Port Huron, Michigan to work for Detroit Edison where he worked until his retirement in 2003. During his time there, David made life-long friendships and proudly provided for his family.
David married Kathleen Hurley in July of 1991 and shared many wonderful adventures together. In 2003 they moved to Florida. David and Kathleen loved to travel together. One of his favorite recent trips was to Alaska.
Anyone who knew David, knew that he was loving, caring and warm. He believed in serving others through acts of service and was very active in numerous charities, conservative efforts and non-profits. He recently served as Vice President of the Estero Republican Club and was on the State Board of Personhood FL.
He had an immense passion for U.S. history and the Constitution. They taught “Christianity & the Constitution” classes since 2004. He loved playing baseball throughout his life. David was a very good bowler and enjoyed the numerous leagues he was on, especially where he played with his brothers.
He is survived by his mother, Frances; wife, Kathleen; his sons’ mother, Linda Cheney; his children, William Doan, Greg Doan (Stephanie), Jennifer Smith (Jeremiah), Jessica Doan (Diana); grandchildren, Austin, Angel, Nathan, Austin, Francis, Keith, Mareena, Preston, Corbin and Kaitlyn; brother, Brian Doan (Sandy); sisters, Carol Lavere, Stephanie Pevec (Marty) and Annette Sparks (Keith); niece; Nicole Gray (Scott); and many others.
David was preceded in death by his father, William Grant Doan; his stepfather, Richard Lewandowski; brother, Richard Lewandowski II; his late second wife, Marianne; his brother Steve; and his daughter, Rebecca.
Throughout his life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him. David was always a source of positivity. His family and friends will miss him more than words can say.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Cornerstone Church, 4025 North Rd. Clyde, Michigan. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.
