Dr. Morris A Magnan

Dr. Morris Allen Magnan, 72, of Fort Gratiot, died Tuesday, July 26, 2022.

He was born July 27, 1949 in Port Huron to the late Morris and Maryann (Fye) Magnan.

In his early years he moved with his family to La Habra, California. After graduating from La Habra High School in 1967 he returned to Michigan where he earned an associate degree in nursing from St. Clair County Community College in 1972. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN, 1984) from Madonna University and an MSN (1993) and PhD (2001) in nursing from Wayne State University.

Over the course of his nursing career, Dr. Magnan published more than 60 manuscripts in his field. He was a consultant on developing national and international guidelines for pressure ulcer prevention. In addition, he received a number of prestigious awards for excellence in nursing, for research, and for his scholarly publications.

He leaves behind three sisters, Sandra Magnan, Rose Marie (Lopiccolo) DeKold and Francesca (Lopiccolo) Raines; two brothers, Samuel Lopiccolo and Joseph Lopiccolo; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Theresa (Lopiccolo) Jowers; and a brother, Michael Lopiccolo.

Cremation has taken place.
