Joanne E. Sparr, 88, of Port Huron, died Friday, August 5, 2022 in Port Huron Hospital.
She was born November 1, 1933 in Detroit to the late William and Thelma Shurkey. She married Walter A. Sparr on June 10, 1995 in Port Huron. He died June 3, 2002.
Mrs. Sparr retired from being a teacher’s aide with the Port Huron Area School District after 25 years of service. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her beloved dogs, gardening, going to garage sales and taking walks. Her all-time favorite was spending time with her children, grandchildren and her many friends. She was so kind and loving to everyone that she met throughout her life.
She is survived by two sons, Kirk (Vicki) Fulton and Marty Fulton; two daughters, Cheryll (Barry) Slingerland and Darlene (Michael) Cowell; two stepsons, Alan (Reta) Sparr and Gary J. (Cathy) Sparr; stepdaughter, Gail Anderson; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, William (Donna) Shurkey and Robert Shurkey; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Patricia Shurkey; and her first husband, William Fulton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2022 in Faith Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Timothy Eichberger will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.
