Obituary

LaVina Victoria Kodet, 103, of Port Huron Township, died Saturday, August 13, 2022 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family.

She was born September 5, 1918 in Port Huron to the late Allen and Rosetta McKinch. She married Elmer Kodet on September 28, 1935 in Port Huron. He died October 2, 2001.

LaVina was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She enjoyed tending her flowers and garden, supporting her husband and four children, maintaining her 100-year-old farmhouse and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two children, Joseph Kodet and Sharon Johnson; eleven grandchildren, Jodi of Michigan, Tari (Tom) Atherton of Florida, Jeffery (Robin) Kodet, Diane (Ed) Sheldon, Brett Kodet and Stefan, all of Michigan, Sasha (Kevin) Cross of Texas, John (Melonie) Kodet and Lisa (Cary) Caudell both of Tennessee, Andrew Johnson and Aiden Johnson both of Michigan; three special grandchildren; Austin, Aric and, Adaline; twenty-five great-grandchildren; twenty-one great great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Meyers; and several nieces and nephews, including Nancy Andrasik and Ronald McKinch. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; her two sons, Elmer “Rusty” Kodet and Allen Kodet; two grandsons, Derek Johnson and Keith Kodet; and brother, Roy McKinch.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Reverend Branden Hunt will officiate.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township. Pallbearers will be John, Jeffery and Brett Kodet, Joseph and Andrew Johnson and Jason Curnow.
