Denise E Stevens
Denise Elaine Stevens, 70, of Marysville, died Saturday, August 20, 2022.
She was born July 20, 1952 in Port Huron to the late M. Kenneth and Stella Stevens.
Denise taught Art and English at Marysville Middle School from 1975 until her retirement in 2010. During those 35 years she helped produce many successful theater productions at Marysville High School, developed a love of art in her students and provided travel opportunities with class trips each school year. She served as the president of the Marysville Education Association for many years and continued in leadership roles with Blue Water Art Association, Lost Whales Condo Association and St. Clair Theater Guild. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish St. Joseph Catholic Church where she sang with the Celebration Choir. She was a skilled Euchre player, enjoyed traveling the world and loved her family and many wonderful friends.
She is survived by her sister, Helene Smith; brothers, Richard and Robert (Judy) Stevens; eight nieces and nephews, Kathlene (Jon) Watt, Kirk (Eileen) Smith, Scott (Andrea) Stevens, Tod (Jiyoung) Stevens, Lisa (Tom) Burleson, Dana (Matthew) Bleicher, Laura (Justin) Westlake and Ben (Trisha) Stevens; 18 great nieces and nephews; 12 great-great nieces and nephews; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Vern Smith; and sister-in-law, Nancy Stevens.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2022 in the Marysville Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2022 in Holy Trinity Parish St. Joseph Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Bradley Forintos will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery.
