Mary Jones
Mary Jones, 78, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
She was born July 2, 1944 in Sarnia, Ontario to the late James and Nettie Barnes. She married Lawrence Jones on December 7, 1973 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2016 after 42 years of marriage.
Mary graduated from Sarnia Collegiate in June 1961 and then attended Salvation Army College in Toronto from 1964-1966. Over the course of her career, she was employed at Sarnia Collegiate, Unwed Mothers Home in Hamilton, Ontario, Divisional Headquarters in Edmonton, Alberta and the Canadian Red Cross. After marrying her husband, she moved to Milford, Michigan where she ran six youth bowling leagues, was active with the Boy Scouts and owned and operated Comm Data Computer. After moving to Port Huron, she was employed by the Salvation Army, YMCA and then the Girl Scouts Michigan Waterways Council office. Since 1997, she owned and operated Sunburst Travel, which she started with her husband, Larry.
She is survived by two sons, David and Marc Jones; a daughter, Shawn (Dan) Little-Taugher; two daughters-in-law, Beth and Ginny Jones; ten grandchildren, Christopher (Danielle), Zachary, Joshua, Brittany (Nate) Hernandez, Allison, Matthew, Hannah, Sara, Skylor and Tannor; and two great grandchildren, Olivia and Pierce Jones. She was preceded in death by two sons, Brian and Adam Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2022 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at noon. The Reverend William Wright will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David and Marc Jones, Dan Taugher, Christopher, Zachary, Joshua and Matthew Jones and Nate Hernandez.
