George J Barnes Jr.

George Joseph Barnes Jr., 63, of Grant Township, died on September 13, 2022 after a battle with ALS.

He was born March 6, 1959 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan to the late George Sr. and Evelyn Barnes.

George graduated from L’anse Creuse High School in 1977 and worked as a machinist, most recently with Precision Boring and Machining. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, snowmobiling and camping, especially at Black Lake. George’s pride and joy was his son.

He is survived by his son; George Barnes III, and George’s mother Jackie; three sisters, Kathleen DeClercq, Christine “Tina” (James) Bawks and Darline (Peter) Setters; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Deborah Purkiss and Sheila Barnes.

Private family services have been held.
