Robert Lawrence Baunoch
The ever handsome and jovial Robert Laurence Baunoch passed away Sunday morning, September 25, 2022, at the age of 92.
Robert was born October 28, 1929, in Worth, Michigan, and married his leading lady, Betty Jean McLennan, on April 4, 1953.
Robert was a loving husband, devoted father, and highly entertaining grandfather. The world will forever remember Robert for his witty sense of humor, memorable chuckle, patented sayings such as "Well, I'll be!", "You Hot Dog!", and his leading man good looks. The man always looked 20 years younger than he actually was. Robert was a legendary fisherman, a fan of great mystery stories, an ice cream lover, and an amateur MacGyver. You needed something fixed? Robert was always willing to lend a helping hand and always had a solution.
Robert served in the Air Force for 21 years, where he was part of the Berlin Airlift and later the Vietnam War. After the Air Force, Robert was a superintendent at Ford Motor Company for 20 years. Later in life, you could find Robert RVing across the country with Betty, fishing for salmon down by the St. Clair River, or spending quality time with his grandchildren, who called him "Papa."
No matter life's challenges, even these last few years, Robert still looked you in the eyes, smiled, and warmed your heart by telling you, "I have no complaints."
He is survived by two children Cheryl (Stephen) Shragal and David (Mary) Baunoch; one sister Shirley Parker; five grandchildren Stephanie Shragal, Robert Baunoch III, Michael Mayhugh, Lauren Baunoch, and Caitlin Baunoch; one great-grandchild Robert Laurence Baunoch IV; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of just shy of 60 years, Betty Jean Baunoch, his son Robert Baunoch Jr., two brothers, and four sisters.
Right now, Robert, Betty, and their son Robert are probably on a boat fishing after a delicious breakfast of Palachinka.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday in the Marysville Funeral Home, 1200 Michigan Ave. Marysville, Michigan 48040.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2022 in the Marysville Funeral Home. Robert’s nephew, Dr. Joseph Baunoch will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force.
Attendees may and are encouraged to wear suspenders as Robert would have.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township.
