Dale P Seyfried

April 24th, 1924 to September 26th, 2022
Obituary

Dale Pierre Seyfried, 98, of Port Huron, died Monday, September 26, 2022.

He was born April 24, 1924 in Highland, Illinois to the late Pierre “Pete” and Frieda Seyfried. He married Rita Archambeau on November 25, 1950 in Detroit. She died August 16, 1999.

Dale served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and was a navigator on a B-25 bomber. After his service he attended Indiana University and graduated in 1949. He owned and operated the Dale P. Seyfried Company (High Voltage Electrical Manufacturers Agency) which he founded in 1950 in Dearborn, and which is still in business under a different name today.

Dale's greatest passion (after his wife, Rita, of course) was flying. His first solo flight took place in 1945. He ultimately obtained his private pilot, instrument flight, commercial flight, Air Transport Rating (ATR) and multi-engine flight licenses. He was described as a "pilot's pilot" by other pilots who flew with him and he ultimately stopped flying in his mid-70's when his eyesight started to become an issue. In addition to using his aircraft for business travel, Dale and Rita flew across the country, and made trips to Mexico and Puerto Rico as well.

Dale's closest passion following flying (and his wife) was golf. His greatest achievement in that field was to have 2 holes-in-one in the Piqua (OH) CC Invitational Tournament in 1985, one during the practice round on Thursday and the second one during the tournament on that Sunday.

In addition to all of this, Dale was also a sportsman, enjoying duck, pheasant, deer and bear hunting trips well into his 80's.

Dale and Rita moved to Port Huron, Michigan in 1988, having purchased a condo in Cross Pointe Condominiums on the Black River. They became members at Port Huron Golf Club. They also purchased a cabin cruiser, "Hoosier" and then another, "Hoosier II" and were active in the Port Huron Power Squadron. Dale lived at Cross Pointe until his final illness and then spent his last 2 years before he passed at Marwood Manor, where he received very good care.

He is survived by two sons, John Seyfried (Lori Eby) of Fort Gratiot Michigan, and Tom (Lisa) Seyfried of Orlando, Florida; four grandchildren, Alaine, Sarah, Matthew and Heather Seyfried; and niece, Susan Jones of New Carlisle, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his second wife, Helen Knowles Seyfried.

It is fair to make the observation that Dale's life was a life well-lived...
