Denise "Neecy" Jones

July 26th, 1957 to September 27th, 2022

Denise “Neecy” Jones, 65, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

She was born July 26, 1957 in Detroit to the late Jimmie and Laura Mae Jones. She was the fifth of seven children.

Denise attended and graduated from the Highland Park school system. She confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age at the New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor James L. Newby III. She later recommitted her life to Christ and was re-baptized at the Reconciliation Word Ministry Church, under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Hewitt in Royal Oak. She was employed at Sacred Heart in Memphis and enjoyed her employment as much as she did all her co-workers.

Denise, known by most as Neecy, loved life and her children. She was a beautiful, kind, people loving, generous person and fun to be around, especially during the holidays with family and friends. She was also strong-willed and a very political individual; always front and center giving her opinion and suggestions when it came to politics. MSNBC was one of her favorite stations to listen to and watch. People enjoyed this side of her personality and looked forward to what she had to say.

She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory three loving children, Tamika (Kimani) Pasha, Theodore Smith and Taron (Breanna) Smith; two grandchildren, Tamarion and Zaiden Smith; two siblings, Wilburt (Cynthia) Jones and Marilyn Holmes; a host of cousins; uncle, Ollie Stringer; and many nephews, nieces, friends and acquaintances. She was preceded in death by siblings, Gene T. Jamison, Jimmie Jones Jr., Mary Lena Jones and Tyron Jones.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2022 in Great Commission Church with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The Reverend Walter Hodges will officiate.
