Gary Jones

Gary R. Jones, 82, of North Street, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022 with his family by his side. He was born August 25, 1940 in Otter Lake, Michigan to the late Ramoth and Eleanor Jones.

Gary graduated from Port Huron High School in 1958. He retired from Laborers Local #463 after 18 years and Michigan National Bank after 16 years.

After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with his wife and friends.

Gary enjoyed building and fixing things, all types of hunting, fishing and being a 2nd baseman on numerous baseball teams throughout his life, where he made many great friends. He was a huge Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed watching every game. Most of all, he loved all the gatherings with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Judith Jones; two daughters, Cheryl (Dean) Kaufman and Michelle Jones (Gary Marinez); five grandchildren, Shawna (Jake) Ballor, Tony (Angela) Olvera, Dr. Jamey (Dr. Kathy) Olvera and Kylar Marinez; fourteen great grandchildren, Logan Ballor (Maddie Showler), Alexis, Jaren and Cody Ballor, Kayla Olvera (Jake McCleary), Lily, Gabriel, Miley, Brennalyn, Beckett, Norah and Layla Olvera and Landon and Gannon Miller; one great great granddaughter, Phoebe McCleary; brother, Bernard (Judy) Jones; and brother-in-law, Robert (Susan) Johnson. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sondra Kibbie and Sharon Sharrard;, grandson, Glen “L.B.” Miller III; and mother-in-law, Mary Johnson.

A private family memorial service will take place at a later date.
