Deacon John Tyrone Kidd Sr., 80, of Port Huron Township, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 27, 2022.
He was born October 10, 1942 in Port Huron to the late Charles and Ruby Kidd. He married Ida Hill on July 23, 1966 in Port Huron.
John was employed as a fuel operator with Detroit Edison for many years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed bowling, was a Golden Glove Boxing Champ, member of the Toppers Club, Ebony Sportsman Club and played on the Detroit Edison baseball team. He was a member and deacon at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 56 years, Ida; seven children, Bonnie Kidd, John Kidd Jr., Gwendolyn Kidd-Lothery, Dana Kidd, daughter/niece, Ruby Kidd-Gayles, James Cathy and Tyra (Bernard) Hill; eight grandchildren, Nashaunda Kidd, Darlene Arnold, Marshaun Lothery, Martel Lothery, Talia Arnold, Martasia Lothery, Cietera Wilson and Ray Lee; 17 great grandchildren; siblings, Savalia Rivers, Mary Brown, Betty (John) McFadden, Maxine Kidd and William Kidd; brothers-in-law, Willie Hill and James (Linda) Hill; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hill and Delores Crews; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including special friends/brothers from his youth to adulthood, Bobie Jones and Donnie McDowell. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jeffery, Charles, Hubert, Claudius, Marvin, Rufus and Roosevelt Kidd; sister, Ruby Shephard; son-in-law, Marshall Lothery; and brother-in-law, Curtis M. Crews Sr.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2022 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 4, 2022 in Restoration Christian Community Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Carl E. Miller Sr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.
