Eleanor Pierce

Eleanor Catherine Marenich Pierce, 80, of Port Huron Township, died Friday, January 13, 2012.

She was born August 9, 1931 in Port Huron to the late William J. and Charlotte F. Van Wormer. She married Andrew M. Marenich in 1950. He died in 1967. She then married James M. Pierce Sr. who also preceded her in death.

Eleanor graduated from Port Huron High School in 1949. She worked at Kmart for many years until her retirement. She also worked as a lunch lady at Port Huron High School and as an AFC caregiver.

She is survived by three sons, William J. Marenich Sr. of Auburn, Joseph E. (Denise) Marenich Sr. of Parkton, North Carolina, and James M. Pierce Jr. of Port Huron Township; 10 grandchildren, Andrea (Chris) Lewicki, Laura Lee (Brent) Old, Katie (Chris Lester) Marenich, William (Jenny Leahy) Marenich, Joseph (Heather) Marenich, Shawn Marenich, James M. Pierce III, Justin J. Pierce, Armando (Neecole) Diaz, and Carla (Jeremy) Davis; 12 great grandchildren, Hayden, Hannah, Carsen, Garrett, Catherine, Kaylyn, Laci, Joseph III, Wes Anthony, Heaven, Bless, and Angelina; a sister, Sally (Richard) Smith of Naples, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Kathy Marenich in April 2011, and a grandson, Anthony Marenich in 1978.

Private family services were held.
