Thomas A Reckker
Thomas A. Reckker, 85, of North Street, died Friday, November 25, 2022 at the Blue Water Hospice Home.
He was born November 2, 1937 in Port Huron. He married Barbara Howe on June 24, 1984 in Port Huron and they were blessed with a large family.
Tom served in the United States Army and received an expert rifleman’s badge. He worked at Dunn Paper for approximately 36 years, retiring in 1997. Tom loved his horses - from horse pulling to team roping, stripping ropes to trail riding. He also enjoyed his dogs, cutting grass, farming, hunting and fishing. More than anything, he truly loved spending time with his family, especially having bonfires out at the cabin and trying to get the kids to do hay!
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barbara; children, Tim (Pam) Reckker and Julie McKenzie (Ed Karwinski); several grandchildren, Laura Reckker (Shelly Szymanski), Missy (Jerry) Parker, Craig (Sierra) Reckker, Eric Boswell, Bill Strauch, Jeremy Tucker and Karissa (Jay) Leach; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sister, Rose Schott; and brother, Fred Reckker (Gene Ruehl). He was preceded in death by four siblings, Beatrice Reckker, Elenor Henderschot, Frank Reckker and Madeline Watkins.
Tom’s family will receive friends and family from 5-7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the Grant Township Hall, 7942 Wildcat Road. Please stop by and share your memories of Tom.
The family will hold a private burial at a later date. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Water Hospice House in Tom’s honor.
