Richard A Szczepanski

July 7th, 1941 to December 7th, 2022

Richard A. Szczepanski Sr., 81, of Smiths Creek, went to be with the Lord in the early hours of Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

He was born July 7, 1941 in Centerline to the late Adam F. and Ann M. Szczepanski. He married Rosemary Rhodes on November 7, 1968 in Detroit. She preceded him in death on July 12, 2014.

Richard worked as an electrician at Michigan Bell Telephone until his retirement.

After graduating from Lincoln High School, he served as a U.S. Marine Corps “lavadog” in Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge, he was introduced to his wife Rosemary and for the next 45 years they lived a life dedicated to the Lord, a life filled with love and generosity that touched many. Richard was one of the founding members of Life in Christ Fellowship.

He is survived by his son, Rich (Renee) Szczepanski; daughter, Elizabeth Szczepanski; six grandchildren, Josh (Julianne), Mike (Stacey), Jacob, Justin, and “Nick-Coal” Szczepanski and “Aingle” (Ben) Nugent; and great grandchildren, Lylah, Kellyn and Ella.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Sonny; sisters, Theresa and Cathy; and great granddaughter, Peyton Rae.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m Friday, December 16 at Life in Christ Fellowship, 950 S. Wadhams Road, St. Clair.

Memorial services will be held promptly at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Life in Christ Fellowship with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Jim Achatz will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Marine Corps and St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

The family encourages those planning an expression of sympathy to consider doing an act of kindness in honor of Richard. He loved to “pay it forward”.
