Delphine J Liberato

December 23rd, 1928 to January 2nd, 2023

Delphine Jean Liberato was born on December 23, 1928 in Rogers City, Michigan. Although she came from a small Northern Michigan town, Delphine never lived in a small world. Her adventurous spirit brought her to Detroit after high school graduation. She never stopped seeking knowledge or alternative answers to the fundamental and metaphysical questions of life. Delphine was an unconventional thinker who found joy and happiness living a conventional life. Most of all, she loved and enjoyed her family and friends.

Delphine spent most of her life in southeastern Michigan but returned to Rogers City as often as she could. Her connection to - and love for - her Northern Michigan roots stayed with her throughout her life. During the last two years of her life, her hometown newspaper, The Advance, was read to her each week. The articles sparked long-forgotten memories that she enjoyed recounting. Delphine enjoyed a wide range of music, from New Orleans jazz (Pete Fountain and Fats Domino) to the whimsical Three Little Fishies that she used to sing to her children.

She is survived by her children, Pamela Goll, David (Myra) Liberato, Lynn Liberato and Valerie St-Denis; grandchildren, Geneviève (John) Drummond and André St-Denis; and great-grandson, Cameron. She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Charlotte Goulette; husband, Ralph Liberato; son-in-law, Marc St-Denis; and siblings, Dave Goulette and Diane Tulgestke.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
