Rivierra R Thompson

February 4th, 1990 to January 7th, 2023
Obituary

Rivierra Renee Thompson was born in Port Huron, Michigan on February 4, 1990, to Tracy Thompson and the late Terrance Herbert Conner.

At the age of nine, Rivierra (affectionately called “Rivi”) was baptized at Lily Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, Michigan by Pastor James L. Hines. She loved to worship the Lord and sing, which led her to join the church youth choir.

Rivierra graduated from Clintondale High School. She then attended St. Clair County Community College. Shortly thereafter, Rivi relocated to Memphis, Tennessee where she attended Paul Mitchell The School Memphis and studied cosmetology. Rivierra aspired to become a pediatrician, so it was no surprise that her love for children flourished. When children were around, Rivi would be found laughing, playing and entertaining them. Some of the children who loved and gravitated toward her and were closest to her heart were little Saliyah and her siblings; Nalah; D’Mani; Faith and Jariah. Her favorite little people were her cousin, Keegan and her niece, Camille.

Rivi and her brother, Taylor, had a very special bond. They frequented restaurants for sushi and other favorite dishes simply to enjoy each other’s company. They’d reminisce about when they were younger and not so young, yet still clowning each other about which of them was Mom’s favorite. Of course, Taylor always maintained, “It’s Rivi”.

Rivierra was known for her boisterous and loving personality. She had a beautiful heart, was selfless and always thought of others. Rivierra was a great cook who was especially proud of her barbeque. She enjoyed traveling to exotic destinations, shopping and dressing in stylish fashions. She looked forward to monthly birthday celebrations, outdoor cookouts and traveling home for the Thanksgiving holiday with family.

Rivierra went peacefully, in her sleep, to be with the Lord, on the afternoon of January 7, 2023. She leaves to cherish her memory and to celebrate her life, her loving mother, Tracy Thompson (Christopher Hernandez); brother, Taylor Thompson (Lacey Timperly); grandparents, Trudy “Nonnie” Kirkland and James & Chlorita Conner; aunts, Angela Allen (Greg) and Tamaria Leverett (Gardiner); uncle, Troy Stephan (Tina); cousins, Keegan Allen, Jaden Leverett and Dylan Meyers; and niece, Camille Thompson, as well as many other relatives and friends. Rivi will be sincerely missed.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 21, 2023 in Restoration Christian Community Church with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m.
