Theresa L Nofs

Theresa Lynn Nofs, 64, of Kenockee Township, died Thursday, January 26, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born May 25, 1958 in Newberry, Michigan to the late Robert and Deanna Reeves. She married William Nofs on June 1, 1974 in Port Huron and they enjoyed nearly 50 wonderful years together.

Theresa was an amazing woman with a beautiful smile and huge heart. She was a wonderful chef and baker, especially famous for her homemade pizza, and a talented seamstress who made many prom and wedding dresses for her family. Theresa loved to garden and also enjoyed time spent sitting on the porch or in the hot-tub at her Avoca home. She and Bill also ran a food business together for almost 30 years in St. Clair and Sanilac County and customers eagerly looked forward to the baked good baskets she would make each Christmas. Theresa’s life revolved around her family, and her greatest joy was being a wife, mom, grandma and friend.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, William; three children, Amy (Robert) Chaney, Theo Nofs (Leslie Szulborski) and James (Kaelyn) Nofs; three grandchildren, Curtis Gillespie, Lila Lynn and Walker Nofs; siblings, Kathy (David) Condon, Robert Hamilton (Michele Russell) and Beth (Rodney) Russell, Selena (Mike) Rambo and Sheri Antrobus; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Steve Hamilton.

A memorial event to celebrate Theresa’s life will be held in the spring.
