Joseph Herber
Joseph William Herber, 64, of Port Huron, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, January 26, 2012.
He was born June 3, 1947 in Port Huron to the late Henry and Helen Herber. He married Diane A. Schroeder on September 12, 1970 in Port Huron.
Mr. Herber was a machine operator with Mueller Brass for 40 years prior to his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserves and was an active volunteer in many veteran’s activities. He was member of the Port Huron High School Class of ’65 and received an associate’s degree from St. Clair County Community College. He was a member of the Allied Veteran’s Council, VFW Charles Schoor Post #796 and past Post Commander for American Legion Charles Hammond Post #8.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; two daughters, Rebecca Herber and Dr. Kara (Dr. Robert) Herber-Render; a sister, Marilyn (Larry) Stebbins; a brother, Henry J. (Linda) Herber; a step brother, Fred (Patty) Pickard; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jack Pickard.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 in Trinity Lutheran Church. The Reverend John Carrier will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
