Obituary

Russell Kenneth Rumsey Jr., 72, of Kimball Township, died Thursday, March 2, 2023.

He was born January 9, 1951 in St. Clair to the late Rosemary and Russell K. Rumsey Sr. and was proud of his Chippewa heritage. He married Theresa A. “Traci” Polk on April 9, 1983 in St. Christopher Catholic Church.

Russell was self-employed in the construction industry for many years before his retirement. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and a former member of Fraternal Order of Eagles #3702. He enjoyed camping, trail-riding on horseback and working outdoors. He was a jack-of-all-trades who loved helping others.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Traci; son, Richard Rumsey of Bradenton, Florida; two daughters, Amy Lynn (Matthew Smith) Hess of Atlanta, Georgia and Renee (Tiffany) Hess of Tipp City, Ohio; four granddaughters, Briana Rumsey, Morgan Hardin, Bayleigh McCarthy and Dorian Smith; grandson, Justin Smith; two great grandchildren; five sisters, Shirley (Travis) Shelton, Mary Selph, Penny Lewis and Pam (Mike) Miller and Susan Knowles all of Georgia; brother, James “Billy” Rumsey of Georgia; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Hayes; and two brothers, Bernard and Michael Rumsey.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 in the Marysville Funeral Home.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2023 in St. Christopher Catholic Church, Marysville with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend James Arwady will officiate.

The Rite of Committal will be held in Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Christopher Catholic Church.
