Doris L Richards

Doris Louise Richards, 92, of Ruby, died Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the home of her son, Randall K. Richards.

She was born September 5, 1930 in Ruby to the late Charles “Bud” and Florence Papst. She married Charles R. “Bob” Richards on June 11, 1948 in Ruby. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1997.

Doris graduated from Yale High School, class of 1947. She worked for Yale Public Schools as a teacher’s aide and was known as “Grandma Richards” by many. She retired in 1986. She was a member of the Ruby Lioness Club, Ruby Community Church and the Clyde Township Historical Society.

She is survived by two sons, John D. Richards (Yvonne Robertson) of Magnolia, Texas and Randall K. (LouAnne) Richards of Clyde Township, Michigan; daughter, Wenda L. Tatar of Martin, Michigan; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Richards-Weathersby of Marysville, Michigan; eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Scott A. Richards of Marysville, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Joyce Richards of Magnolia, Texas; and a brother, Bert Papst of Algonac, Michigan.

A private graveside service will be held in Ruby Cemetery.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made to Ruby Community Church, Clyde Historical Society or the Ruby Lions Club.

Doris was loved by many and will be missed by all. “Mom, you raised a loving and caring family, your work here is done, rest in peace. We love you!”
