Meredith Cates

Meredith Jeanette Cates, 74, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

She was born December 6, 1948 in Port Huron.

Meredith was a graduate of Port Huron High School and was known as “Pinky”. She was the proud mother of two children and was known for her strength, her love of putting puzzles together and cooking for her family and friends, especially her Sunday meals. She had a funny sense of humor and a one-of-a-kind personality. Pinky was a loving person and was loved by many.

Meredith leaves to mourn her passing her son, Wendell (Tracy) Cates; daughter, Marla (Randy) Willis; eight grandchildren, Corey, Shayna, Armonni, Jada, Trista, Darien, Tatiana and Carl; five great grandchildren, Meela, Murphy, Nevaeh, Skyee and Richard; six siblings, Janice (John) Johnson, James (Jeanette) Cates, Robert Cates, Jerilyn Cates, Marlon (Carrol) Cates and Jeffery (Latina) Cates; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ellis and Patty Mae Cates; lifelong partner, Lester Phillips; and siblings, Claudette Rounsoville, Harold Cates and Judith Diane Bookrum.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery.
