David M. "Duke" Anderson

May 27th, 1945 to March 16th, 2023

David Murray “Duke” Anderson, 77, of Fort Gratiot, died Thursday, March 16, 2023.

He was born May 27, 1945 in Port Huron to the late Francis “Frank” and Ruby Anderson. He married Suzanne M. Frendt on June 2, 1984 in All Faiths Chapel at First Congregational Church in Port Huron.

David graduated from Port Huron High School in 1963 and then attended St. Clair County Community College and Suomi College. He began his working career at Conrad Poultry Farm during high school and fondly remembered his time there. He spent over 40 years with Acheson Colloids, beginning as a night watchman and retiring as maintenance supervisor. A hard worker, he often maintained a side job, either preparing taxes, painting, or selling mobile homes.

Fondly known as “Disco Duke”, Dave was a great dancer and caught the eye of his future wife, Sue, with his smooth moves. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and was past president of the Blue Water Sportfishing Association. He also enjoyed watching Michigan Out of Doors and going to the casino. David was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Parish. More than anything, he loved being “grumpa” and “bumpa” to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sue; three children, Jeffrey (Linda) Anderson, Joel (Tammi) Anderson and Nora (John) Dee; three stepchildren, Jeffrey Frendt (Scottie Orr), Jennifer (Todd) Nelson and David (Shanna) Frendt; twelve grandchildren, Jessica (Daniel) Jones, Briana Anderson (Brandon Hilbert), Laura (Michael) Ferguson, Jaron Anderson, Grace “Gracie” Dee, Dallas and Jackson Frendt, Trent, Ty and Paige Nelson and Macy and Brody Frendt; seven great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Logan, Evelyn, Fawn, Kayson, Braxton and Millie June; sister-in-law, Linda Anderson; and many wonderful in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Anderson.

Visitation will be from 1-4 & 6-9 p.m. Monday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.

David will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023 in Holy Trinity Parish St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Reverend Bradley Forintos will officiate.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Gratiot. Pallbearers will be Dave’s grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Parish or the Blue Water Sportfishing Association.
