Darwin Kenneth Drake, 78, of Fort Gratiot, was received by the Lord on March 19, 2023 with his family by his side.
He was born October 20, 1944 in St. Clair to the late Darwin L. and June Drake. He married Anne E. Claucherty on April 8, 1967 in Port Huron.
Darwin served in the U.S. Army. He was employed at Grand Trunk Western Railroad for 36 years. He also worked at Pollock-Randall Funeral Home and was a school bus driver. He was a skilled race car driver, successful gold prospector, talented Civil War Reenactor, televised actor, jewelry maker, history buff and one of the original signers of the Port Huron Statement. He enjoyed learning as well as teaching. He loved and was loved by his family.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anne; daughter, Bonnie (Rev Dr. Robert) Wynkoop; son, Darwin (Zena) Drake; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Noah and Nathan Camm, Kayla (James) Fowler, Karissa Drake, Darwin R. Drake Jr. and Aiden Drake; five great grandchildren, Claire Drake, Lilly Fowler, Kohen Fowler, Ahria Fowler and Grayson Camm; brother, Gerald Drake; in-laws, Jeff (Mary) Hart and Carl (Marion) Claucherty; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Judith Hart; and niece, Jessica.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2023 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. Darwin’s son-in-law, the Reverend Dr. Robert Wynkoop will officiate.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jeffrey Hart, Jerry Drake, Nathan Camm, Aiden Drake, Kohen Fowler and Grayson Camm.
