Wava L Hartman

Wava Lavon Hartman, 94, of Kimball Township, died Wednesday, March 22, 2023.

She was born September 13, 1928 in Port Huron to the late Avery and Belva Lester. She married Harry “Bud” Hartman on December 7, 1946 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on November 8, 2018 after 71 years and 11 months of marriage.

Wava was employed as a teacher’s aide for the Port Huron School District for many years. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and a special loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived by two children, Mary Ann (Bill) Steele and Dave (Debbie) Hartman; daughter-in-law, Vickie Hartman; seven grandchildren, Michael (Lynda) Hartman, Julie Hashley, Bill (Traci) Steele, Cassia (John) Bishop, Josh Holley and Mandy (Jesse) Schmelter and Nick Heacock; seven great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry; and eight siblings, Iva Buffington, Wanda Mantooth, Evelyn Daniels, Ardis Davis, Lloyd Lester, Edsel Lester; Gary Lester and Gale Lester.

Private services were held in Kinney Cemetery. Pastor Kenneth Steele Jr. officiated.
