David Paul Kujda Sr., 72, of Port Huron, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a true friend for many, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on Sunday, April 2, 2023.
David was born the second-oldest of five children to Joseph and Evelynn Kujda on April, 08, 1950 in Port Huron, MI. He was born at the old St. Claire Hospital and was raised on the family’s property on Puttygut Road where he attended the Wright One Room School House.
David was a highly sought after drywall man who honed his craft for over 40 years in Michigan and Florida. He shared his trade with his family and close friends, teaching them a trade that could provide. He was a father figure to most. David had many friends who loved and cherished his friendship, his humor, and his big heart. He was a big man with an even bigger laugh who brought smiles to everyone he crossed. He had a passion for Hot Rods and a deep love for his 67 SS Chevelle that now resides with his eldest son David Jr. in Austin, TX. His mentor, and life-long friend Al Kozlowski (Alski) taught him everything about auto-body work and auto-painting, which coupled with his own knowledge of mechanics drove him to a life-long career of rebuilding and customizing Hot Rods. You would often find him in his pole-barn surrounded by those closest to him, telling stories of his youth, talking shop about cars, and whistling one of his favorite tunes. We can hear him now. His presence will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his second wife, Tammy; six children, Jody Shirley, David Kujda, Greg Kujda, Toni Kujda, Robert Kujda, and Alex Kujda; nine grandchildren, Jordan Wilson, Mariah Kohler, Morgan Wilson, Jacob Kujda, Connor Kujda, Bruce Morauski, Brendan Kujda, Brayden Kujda, and Colton Shirley; a sister, Diana Bracewell-Kujda; three brothers, Mark Kujda, Joseph Kujda and Paul Jeffers; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a family who all loved him dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family may view the livestream of the service by visiting David’s obituary page on the funeral home website.
