Wesley W "Wes" Kerbyson
Wesley William “Wes” Kerbyson, 85, of Fort Gratiot, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 after a short illness.
Wes was born April 24, 1938 in Sandusky. After graduating high school, Wes enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1957 and served until 1960. He began his career at Morton Salt and worked there until it closed in 1985. He then was employed at Chrysler until his retirement in 2000. Wes enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing and hunting on his uncle’s farm. Later in his life, he took great pride in handing down his guns and fishing and hunting equipment to his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the J. Edward Mallorey Marysville American Legion Post #449 for many years.
He is survived by loving his wife of 49 years, Merilyn; three cherished daughters, Dawn (Randy) Kettlewell, Joy (Matt) Barnhouse, and Becky (Harry) Watson; two step-children, Brian (Debbie) Gardiner and Nicole (Derek) Carlson; four grandchildren, Scott (Theresa) Kettlewell, Jeremy (Nikki) Kettlewell, Nicholas (Katie) Watson and Mackenzie Watson; step-grandchildren, David Gardiner, Tanya (Spenser) Hale, Ashley Christiansen, Justin Christiansen and Grace Carlson; and his beloved dog, Oliver. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys (Ralph) Elmore; father, Wesley (Irma) Kerbyson; grandson, Daniel Watson; in-laws, Gilbert Nichols, Thomas Nichols, Roberta Nichols, Jan Nichols and Marlene Nichols; and niece, Terri Nichols.
Private family graveside services with military honors will be held in Woodland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Water Hospice Home and the family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Blue Water Hospice for their excellent care and compassion for Wes.
Your family knows when you passed through the golden gates of Heaven your grandson, Danny, was waiting for you. We know when we reach the golden gates of Heaven, you’ll be waiting for us. We love you and we’ll miss you, until we meet again.
