George F MacRae

George Frederick MacRae, 75, of St. Clair Township, died Monday, May 22, 2023.

He was born January 12, 1948 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada to the late Eugene and Beatrice MacRae. He married Karen M. Siler on November 26, 1971 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clair. She died October 14, 2012.

George was a 1967 graduate of Marysville High School and worked for F. Yeager Bridge and Culvert Company, Morton Salt, Petipren Inc., Marysville Truck Equipment and Earl Smith Distributing. George helped his wife Karen operate Karen’s Day Care for over 30 years. He was also a 4-H leader with the Lucky Leaf 4-H Club, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by his three children, Melissa Mayes, Julie (Doug) Marriott and Tim (Char) MacRae; five grandchildren, SSgt Vince Harrington USMC, Tony Bowers, and Amanda, Emily and Cody Marriott; one aunt, Anne MacRae; four brothers-in-law, Gary (Julie) Siler, Kevin (MaryJo) Siler, Michael (Sandy) Siler and William Farrer; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and all of their beloved daycare children. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas MacRae; and sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Michael) Tovarez and Linda Farrer.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023 in the Marysville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, June 2, 2023 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Gary Bugaiski will officiate.
