Mona M Maxwell

Mona Marion Maxwell, 100, of Port Huron, died Tuesday, June 27, 2023.

She was born November 2, 1922 in Winona, Minnesota to the late James Patrick. and Salome Amalia (Molly) Revoir. She married Ivan Ross Maxwell on March 27, 1951 in Port Huron and they were married for 50 years before he preceded her in death on March 1, 2002.

Mrs. Maxwell met her husband while working at Mueller Brass after graduating from high school in Lansing, Iowa and moving to Port Huron. After marriage Mona’s focus turned to raising a young family but made time to volunteer as a caregiver for the Houle family for many years. When her children went to school, she began working in the kitchen at the Port Huron Area School District where she remained until her first retirement in 1985. She and Ivan then spent several years primarily residing in Yuma, Arizona before returning to the Blue Water Area. After her husband passed away, she volunteered at Marwood Nursing and Rehab and went back to work for the Port Huron schools as a lunch lady until her second retirement at age 91. Mona was a longtime member of Wadhams Grove Community of Christ.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Maxwell; daughter, Bethany Maxwell; granddaughter, Breeyn Maxwell (Daniel Cole); two great grandchildren, Quay and Irie Maxwell-Cole; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, Howard and Gerald Revoir; and sister, Marjorie Stringfield.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023 in Wadhams Grove Community of Christ with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Elder Dave Giles will officiate.

Burial was in Washington Township Cemetery, Carsonville. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Wadhams Grove Community of Christ or the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
