Obituary

Robert Jospeh Kane, 71, of Marysville, died Tuesday, August 1, 2023.

He was born August 5, 1951 in Detroit and married Kathryn Nichols on July 21, 1973 at the family home in Detroit.

Robert attended St. David’s Middle School and then Detroit Denby High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force Reserve and dedicated his life to a career in civil service with the Air Force at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. After his retirement, he became an active member of the local chapter of Goldwing Road Riders Association and spent 20 years riding the country on his Goldwing. He was also a volunteer firefighter with the City of St. Clair Fire Department from 1980 to 1990.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathryn; daughter, Wendy Kane (James Busby); grandson, Aaron L. (Kia) Pelletier, Jr.; great grandson, Bryce; five siblings, Kathleen (Darwin) Ferrett, Claudia Kane, Dolores Hogan-Kane, Michael Kane and James (Connie) Kane; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Kane; father, Maurice Kane; brother, Richard Kane; and step-son, Aaron L. Pelletier.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Dr. Joseph Baunoch will officiate. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Navy and St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

Inurnment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force.

Memorials may be made to the Brain Bank Discovery Fund at the University of Michigan.
