Tera Meri Allen, 50, of Kimball Township, died Tuesday, August 1, 2023. She was born August 13, 1972 in Flint to Robert E. and Rebecca A. Borey.
Tera graduated in 1990 from Holy Rosary High School and then obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. She began her career as a Legacy Immigration Officer with the I.N.S. and later transitioned to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. She met her husband, James B. Allen, through work and they were married on October 1, 2005 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Flint. Tera’s faith was important to her and she was a current member of St. Christopher Catholic Church and former catechism teacher. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Tera was always up for an adventure. She was an avid fan of Disney and enjoyed planning family vacations there and to many other places. She was even a finisher of the Disney Marathon Weekend races.
Jim, James and Riley were the light of Tera’s life, and she lit up any time she spoke of them or when they entered a room. They were her pride and joy. Tera was a positive person and helped, listened to and loved her family, friends and extended family dearly. She was a soul who would lift you up in any circumstance. Her smile was contagious, her love immense, and she will be greatly missed.
Tera is survived by her husband, Jim; two children, James E. Allen and Riley K. Allen; her parents, Rebecca “Becky” Beck and Robert (Kathy) Borey; mother-in-law, Marlene Allen; siblings, Jeremy and Jessica Borey; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, James D. Allen.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2-5 & 6-9 p.m. Monday in the Marysville Funeral Home. A Vigil Scripture Service with Rosary and invitation to share memories will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friends may view the livestream of this service by visiting Tera’s obituary page of the funeral home website.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at St. Christopher Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend James Arwady will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverlawn Cemetery, Marysville.
