Marcia J Torrey

Marcia Jean Torrey, 83, of Port Huron, died Thursday, August 17, 2023.

She was born June 9, 1940 in Port Huron, the only child of the late Harry and Geraldine Ingell.

Marcia graduated from Port Huron High School and then attended Central Michigan University. Marcia worked in the office of Mueller Brass Company for several years. She met her husband, Dan through mutual friends and they were married shortly after on September 26, 1966. Marcia was a dedicated homemaker and loved taking care of her husband and precious son. She and Stephen especially enjoyed playing cards. Marcia loved to watch Detroit Tigers baseball and also enjoyed attending local hockey games. She was a lifetime member of Women’s Life Chapter #830 and also belonged to First Congregational Church where she was active in the women’s ministry. She volunteered as an election worker as well.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dan; dear long-time friends, Eric and Lura Opperthauser; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen S. Torrey in 2007.

Graveside committal services will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The Reverend Dr. G. Patrick Thompson will officiate.

Marcia and Dan loved their feline companions and always had at least two cats in their home. Memorial contributions to the Blue Water Area Humane Society would be appreciated.
