Barbara A Brogden

December 28th, 1946 to August 20th, 2023

Barbara Ann (Devereaux) Brogden, a beloved soul who embraced life with grace and warmth, peacefully journeyed to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 20, 2023. She was born on December 28, 1946, to the late Dr. John and Adele Devereaux.

Barbara's journey through life was marked by her deep connections and a spirit that radiated joy. She began her educational journey at St. Joseph's grade school and later graduated from Port Huron High in 1965. As a young woman, Barbara found her passion in the world of beauty, becoming a skilled hairstylist who effortlessly brought out the beauty in others. Her love for fashion was evident in every aspect of her life, reflecting her impeccable taste and unique style.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Barbara possessed a creative spirit that knew no bounds. She enjoyed ceramics, crafts, and made several dozen quilts, each creation a testament to her artistry and attention to detail. Yet, amidst all her passions, her true heart's delight lay in the embrace of her family. She found her greatest joy in the time she shared with her loved ones, creating cherished memories that will forever be etched in their hearts.

Barbara's journey through life was enriched by the love she shared with her husband, Bruce Brogden, who preceded her in death. Together, they created a union of love, and though he has left this world, their bond remains unbroken.

Barbara's life was further blessed by her two daughters, Katherine A. James and Sheryl L. Fraley, who became the center of her universe. Her love and guidance were the cornerstones upon which her daughters' lives were built. She is survived by Katherine (Michael) James and Sheryl (Andrew) Fraley, who continue to carry her light forward. Barbara's impact expanded through the generations, as she became a cherished grandmother to Hilary Tesluck, Paige Fraley, and Emmett Fraley; and great aunt to several nieces and nephews. Her wisdom and affection will remain an everlasting gift to them.

She leaves behind her sister, Joan Walker, who shared the journey of life; her previous husband and father of her children, Gerald Bowie; and her step-children, John and Bogart Brogden, and Donna Ferguson, and their children who were embraced as part of her extended family.

As Barbara embarks on her final journey, she is welcomed into the eternal embrace of her loved ones who have gone before her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Brogden; and her siblings, Rev. Dr. Sir Thomas W. Devereaux, James Devereaux, and Mary Terhune.

Barbara’s light will forever shine in the hearts of those who were privileged to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and a profound connection to family that will continue to inspire and guide us all.
