Virginia Mary VanThornout, 89, of North Street, died Sunday, August 20, 2023.
She was born June 12, 1934 in North Street to the late James and Mary McNaughton. She married David VanThornout on October 17, 1953 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1978.
Virginia graduated from Port Huron High School in 1952 and also attended St. Clair County Community College. She was an operator with Michigan Bell and later AT&T for 41 years prior to her retirement. Virginia enjoyed cooking, baking, going to the movies, traveling, wintering in North Fort Myers, Florida, camping, shopping, tending to her flowers, organizing family reunions and listening to country and gospel music. Her family was extremely important to her and was the focus of her life.
She is survived by her sisters, Katherine Lester, Dorothy (Jerry) Tucker, Martha (Wayne) Yeates and Marilyn (Ken) Oles; brothers, George (Jacqueline) McNaughton, Gary (Sandy) McNaughton and Ross (Dianna) McNaughton; sister-in-law, Mabel Wolfe; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lorraine McNaughton and Edna Mae Murray; and brother-in-law, Roy Lester.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Scott Stapleford will officiate.
Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery, Clyde Township.
