Travis W Jack
Travis W. Jack, 79, of Port Huron, died Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Marwood Manor Nursing Home in Port Huron following a long illness.
He was born March 20, 1944 in Port Huron to Wayne T. and Vera Jack. He married Dianne Taylor on May 21, 1983.
Travis graduated from Port Huron High School in 1962 and from Michigan State University in 1966. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Greece and North Dakota before serving 20 years in the Michigan Air National Guard at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. In 1972, Travis became a Michigan State Trooper and served for 25 years, until his retirement in 1997. After taking graduate courses at Wayne State University, he was a substitute teacher for the Port Huron Area School District for several years. He and his wife took many wonderful vacations to different countries around the world and a number of states. He was a member of the Port Huron International Club. Besides his love of travel, Travis was very interested in astronomy, planes and trains. He also loved dogs and was always happy to have his pets close to him.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dianne; a son and daughter from a previous marriage, Brian Jack and Jennifer Jack; stepson, Andrew (Janel) Taylor; two step-grandchildren, Ethan and Ella Taylor; and sister-in-law, Carol (Bill) Hilliard. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Carol Jack.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Dr. Roxie Davis of First Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force.
