Obituary

Julie Kay Griffith, 65, of Port Huron, went home to be with the Lord Monday, September 4, 2023.

She was born May 7, 1958 in Port Huron to the late Jean and Arthur Dinkins II.

Julie retired from Council on Aging after many years of working with Star Path. She volunteered with hospice at VNA, enjoyed playing cards and water aerobics at the YMCA. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, making and giving away sweet potato pies and praising the Lord at her church.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her devoted daughters, Falana Dinkins and Jeralyn (Darrell “Neal”) Jefferson; five grandchildren, Jokwon Campbell, Isaiah Dinkins, Mone’ Campbell, Ahlivia Jefferson, and Whalik Jefferson; two brothers, Arthur (Deborah) Dinkins III and Eric (Kimberly) Dinkins; two sisters, Alfreda White and Marcia (Edward “Skip”) Jefferson; three step-brothers, William Robinson, Eugene Robinson Jr. and Jerry Robinson; three step-sisters, Frances Morris, Christine Mitchell and Charmaine Robinson; friends, Euna Whitehead, Henrietta Henderson, Janice Hill and Lena Hill-Smith; favorite cousins, Vincent Buckles, Rhonda Noble and Guy Washington; and many wonderful co-workers at Council on Aging Star Path. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Gerald Cureton and William T. Griffith; biological parents, Arthur A Dinkins II and Jean A. Dinkins; and step-father, Eugene F. Robinson, who raised her as his own.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2023 in Restoration Christian Community Church, 3201 Gratiot Avenue, Port Huron, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Carl Miller will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Pallbearers will be DeMarr Dinkins, Dwain Cureton, Michael Jefferson, Ryan Johnson, Cedrick Rogers and Coleman “Spike” Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell “Neal” Roberts, Edward Watson, Arthur Dinkins III, Eric Dinkins and Allen Cureton.
