William Horton “Buddy” Sutherland Jr., 64, of Fort Gratiot, died Tuesday, October 10, 2023.
He was born August 19, 1959 in Port Huron to the late Minnie and William Sutherland Sr.
Buddy played basketball and ran cross country and track in high school. He was employed at DTE for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed bowling and was very involved with the youth in the community as a flag football coach for 33 years and as an advisor with Kids in Distress and SONS.
He leaves to mourn his passing his longtime partner, Fredricka Collier; two children, Andrew and Amanda Baker; godsons, Marques Wheeler and Jovan McClarty; five siblings, Geraldine (Douglas) Wheeler, Amanda (Howard) Porter, Frank (Fredricka) Sutherland, Ethel Burke and Linda (James) Hill; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and several friends, including Dennis Cook, Ron Marsh, Greg Barrer, Artie Walton, Lesley Dupree and Dante Johnson, who he also mentored. He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and William H. Sutherland Sr.; and sister, Dorothy Phillips.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday October 19, 2023 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2023 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. The Reverend Jeff King will officiate.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Port Huron Township.
