Frederick C Ernst

Frederick Charles Ernst Jr., 71, of Fort Gratiot, died Wednesday, October 11, 2023.

He was born April 9, 1952 in Port Huron to the late Kathleen and Frederick Ernst Sr. He married Debra J. Meyer on July 14, 1972 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on April 15, 2017 after 44 years of marriage.

Frederick was employed at Cargill Salt for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed science fiction, breakfast with friends and watching football. He was a member of Cross Current Church.

He is survived by his son, Charles (Michelle) Ernst; grandchildren, Clarence (Katie) Carroll IV, Zachary (Sarah) Carroll, Desiree (Jeremy) Clever, Tyler Ernst, Brendon (Sarah) Ernst and Paige Ernst; and 7 great granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Rich.

A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023 in Cross Current Church with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Mark Wargo will officiate. A luncheon will follow.
