Joseph C. Long Jr., 22, of Detroit and Port Huron, died Friday, October 20, 2023 after a battle with brain cancer.
He was born March 1, 2001 in Warren.
Joseph attended Port Huron Area Schools and participated in many activities during his school years because he loved to try new things. He had a love of fashion, especially brightly-colored shoes and Nike. He had a great sense of humor and was a beacon of light and hope who wanted everyone to get along. Prior to his diagnosis, he worked for a fencing company and The Weed Man. He was a former member of the Young Marines.
He is survived by his mother, Diana (Mark) Thornton; father, Joe C. Long; siblings, Ashlee (Terence) Kitching, Amber Long, Noah Long, and Nicholas Atkinson; grandmother, Kathy (Ken) Britnell; a friend who was like a brother, Eric Jones; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, amazing friends, and his Beaumont Royal Oak Family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joshua Long in 2022.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2023 in the Marysville Funeral Home, 1200 Michigan Ave., Marysville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023 in the Marysville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Overseer Naomi Gatlin will officiate.
